Built in the 16th century by the majestic Gouffiers family, the Château d’Oiron houses the Curios & Mirabilia contemporary art collection. Inspired by the curios rooms from the Renaissance, the modern collection of Curios & Mirabilia marvelously combines with the ancient heritage, where the viewing of the different rooms is a special experience for all senses. Sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell are turned into artworks from around the world. A wonderful world full of spectacular sights! The artists reinterpret an exceptional place and decor of origin: gallery of Renaissance wall paintings in the style of the School of Fontainebleau. There is also painted and sculpted woodwork from the 17th century. In the footsteps of the Marquis de Carabas (Le Chat Botté), of which Claude Gouffier is said to have been the model, the visitor is therefore invited to stroll between “curiosities” and “wonders” …
